I just rewatched the shadows house anime and noticed some strange things on it. This is my overall impression of the show and put a grain of salt in there since this is just my opinion.
The unnoticed fan service is now noticeable
The fan service upon rewatching the show was noticed in my senses. This type of fan service isn’t your typical big bouncing tiddies everywhere kinda thing, however, it is subtle and is hiding on plane sight. An example of this was in the bath scene, the pushing of the cart where they are making weird noises, and of course the little tension between lou and Ricky. These are highly questionable things that come upon someone's senses as he rewatched the show. You can notice the unnoticed things upon rewatching it.
The brainwashing and kidnapping elements are kinda weird
In this anime, you will see the theme of kidnapping children and abusing them to do some underage labor. It's kinda weird In my opinion. But hey it's just an anime, right? In this anime, the nobles were using some kind of brainwashing liquid that allows them to erase these children’s memory and obey whatever they intend to do with them. I don’t know what kind of audience the story is targeting, but if you watched it with no regard for these trivial matters you might find yourself enjoying the story, however, if you watched the anime for the theme and takeaways, you might it weird in someplace.
The character designs and music is really good
Even tho the theme of this anime is a little bit dark, the design of this anime is top-notch and artistic. The coloring is good, especially the color combination of emilico and kate. The yellow matched with red complement the dark and sinister background art of the show. The sound design is really good, you can hear classical contemporary music in the background and it well complements the atmosphere of the show. You can tell that they put passion into the show since they hire a good classical musician to their team. The ed, is chef kiss, a masterpiece. I like it a lot, the replayability is really good. You won’t skip it because it is that good.
The story is interesting
The amount of curiosity that this anime will give to you is enormous. It will keep you engage because it has unique elements to it. You will question this like “what is the shadows house” “who is the grandfather of the house” “how their power works” “why do the shadows exist”. These are the question that gets into my senses and the reason I rewatched the show.
At the end of the day, this is only Japanese anime. And this is only my opinion, I'm not an expert at anything on this matter.
