The animation and character design were perfect
If you watched the animation on every character on the show you will be noticed that every one of them is very well designed. From head to foot you will see the detailed design of the characters. The background arts were very well designed as well, the artist wasn’t joking around when drawing to background arts. It isn’t distracting and does its job pretty beautifully. It’s a masterpiece because the combination of animation and background design matches gorgeously.
The contemporary background music matches every frame
This is probably the main reason why this show is a masterpiece. The anime studio hired contemporary musicians for the anime. This means the will be contemporary music on every corner of the show. If you look close enough each emotional frame was matched with the orchestra music with it and you will feel a kind of Disney or western animation theme, it is still grounded with Japanese-style animation so don’t worry that it takes you off the experience. The emotion that the music brings on each frame hits hard. The background music and the songs in general was the bread and butter of this anime.
The songs are perfect
As for now episodes 1 and 2 have different opening songs and ending songs from each other. Each of these songs also has different animations on them, if this isn’t quality I don’t know what is. The singers and artist put their heart and soul into each lyric of the song and it was captivating. An anime that do this is worth to watch and you should watch it.
The message is resonating
The lyrics and the message of the anime hit hard on me. It's talking about dreams and optimism. This kind of message will cure your pessimistic and nihilistic view of the world. Especially now that the coronavirus is ruining lives, viewing the world from a pessimistic point of view was common. That is why when this anime was aired, it was the cure for that point of view. The message of the anime that tells us to keep on dreaming and never give up resonates with me and the love live fans. It is refreshing to see anime do this route of storytelling that tells a message on a time like this. The message about optimism is what makes this anime a masterpiece.
If this anime continues to be on this route and I hope it does, this is my best anime of all time. 10/10 highly recommended.
